About Roane CAG
The Roane Community Advisory Group mission statement:
Our mission is to provide a public forum for community members to present and discuss their needs and concerns related to the TVA coal ash release and assist in the decision making process for the cleanup.
We will provide information to the community, and opportunity for interested stakeholders to have input in an inclusive open and public process with the goal of insuring the restoration of the environment in a manner that protects the community health, social, and economic welfare.

Frequently Asked Questions regarding the Roane Community Advisory Group
How were members appointed to the group? There were several public meeting for people to voice their interest for the process of forming the community group. Currently the RoaneCAG is comprised of up to 21 core members (9 at present) from various established community groups and people from the community that are not part of any previous groups. The core group will be responsible for appointing more members as needed. Anyone interested in serving who is willing to commit to the rather significant time requirements could use the Contact Us tab sending a paragraph or so telling about yourself and why you are interested in being a CAG member.
What terms do they serve? Terms are for two years. Members may serve more than one term. Officer terms are for one year. Officers may be re-elected without limits.
Are CAG members paid? No. CAG members are not compensated and in most instances must cover their own personal expenses in attending meetings. They are strickly volunteers donating a considerable amount of their personal time in service to their
community.

Even though “Sunshine” laws may not apply will they voluntarily hold themselves to the spirit of these laws? The CAG will schedule and publish regular monthly meetings and sometimes special called meetings for action items that are open to everyone. Committee work sessions and executive sessions of the Board which may deal with internal matters may or may not be announced and open to the public, however all actions and votes taken by the CAG must be held in open meetings as required by the By Laws.
